Welcome to the Mainframe

Hello and welcome to my Triphop page!! This page is dedicated to a genre of electronic, typically more chill type of music that was at its most popular in the 90s. I first began listening to Trip Hop about 2 years ago when I was recommended "Roll On" by the Sneaker Pimps on youtube.

I listened to it and instantly fell in love. I honestly didn't expect to like this style of music as I was at the time mostly a rock/metal purist, anything without guitars and solos wasn't interesting, but finding this genre was a key moment in me experimenting with my music taste and discovering that good music was everywhere.

My Favorite Works
Of course I will now list all my favorite artists/albums in this genre so I hope y'all try one or two out!! Also tell me if I'm missing anything I should really listen to please ^_^

mezzanine by massive attack

Mezzanine - Massive Attack

This album is just perfect honestly. I have it on vinyl and it is by far one of my most revisited records.

It sounds so fresh no matter how much I play it, honestly this album is timeless in my opinion

becoming x by sneaker pimps

Becoming X - Sneaker Pimps

This is the album that got me into the genre as a whole actually and I still love it. I first heard 'Roll On' and ever since I have been listening to this album often! It's reallyyy good it's a shame Kelli Ali was fired after this tho, she's my fav part honestly

maxinquaye by tricky

Maxinquaye - Tricky, Martina Topley-Bird

This one very much shows the more sensual side of this genre I feel and it's also really excellent. This and Massive Attack both make me feel really cool? Like this music makes me feel smooth n cool n shit does anyone get what I mean?

dummy by portishead

Dummy - Portishead

Portishead is another one of the biggest Trip Hop groups and a true classic, this album especially. It's funny cause I'm starting to see certain Trip Hop songs get popular nowadays which kinda blows but doesn't? Like it's just annoying cuz ouuu I hate it when a group/song I like gets popular cuz it's a popular audio. Then like it goes from a song to a TikTok song, sighh. I'm talking about Glory Box btw (I've seen Angel by Massive Attack too a lot lately)

This music makes me feel like I'm in a spy movie
